The speedy steamer
Built in 1913 by Escher Wyss in Zürich, PS Gallia carries the Latin name of France and represents a traditional homage to French guests in Central Switzerland. Powered by a massive two-cylinders steam engine and thanks to a sleek hull design, Gallia has always been the fastest lake steamer in Europe and can reach speeds up to 31 km/h.
The ornate dining salon is styled in a Francophone Empire style and is perfectly suited for fancy functions, such as weddings. Comprehensively refurbished in 2004, this popular steamboat is also a classic summer ship with its fresh-air upper deck with expansive sun awning.
